> Maya Hansen was born in Madrid in 1978.

> She graduated from Madrid Fashion Design Institute in 2002.

> Winner of the Spanish ICEP Port Fashion in Awards in 2000.

> In July of 2001 Maya won second place in the Smirnoff Fashion Awards.

> September of 2001, she won the Silver Thimble in the in international 'Pazos de Ferreira' competition.

> In Feburary of 2002 she made her debut in Barcelona's Fashion Week (Gaudí Catwalk).

> Maya collaborates with designer Javier Larrainzar as a stylist and produces the samples for his 2003 fall/winter collection.

> In September of 2001 and February 2002 (Editions 46 and 47 respectively) she presents her work in 'Platform Room' (dedicated to young designers) during Madrid's International Fashion Week.

> In October of 2003, Maya participates in the second edition of Madrid Art and Fashion working with Reyes Infográfica Corp. in a conference about virtual fashion design in 3D.

> In November of 2003 Maya starts producing and selling her own brand 'Maya Hansen'.

> Maya is the costume designer for Spanish metal band Mago de Oz and Ebony Ark, Pablo Giaretta and Ratio and Pedro Sabio. The brand also sponsors the violinist Erika Nockhalls (The Wonder Stuff), the aussie violinist Julia Skederkenyi and participate with La Magia in the partnership of the burlesque artist Ivy Paige.

> During 2005, 2006, 2007 and 2008 Maya Hansen participates in Wave Gothik Treffen.

> In September of 2006 Maya Hansen is available in retail store Rara Avis (Pelayo 7).

> In November of 2006 she gains international recognition exporting her designs to german X-Tra-X stores and in December to New York to Gothic Renaissance.

> In Abril 2007 Maya Hansen is the featured cover for Elegy Magazine.

> From Argentinean father and Danish mother, Maya Carbajal Alex-Hansen, graduated with honours by the CSDMM (Centro Superior de Diseño de Moda de Madrid) is, with a small production team, the core of Maya Hansen, founded in 2004 and based in Madrid. Maya Hansen produce all her goods in Spanish workshops.

> During the early days, Maya Hansen was concibed as a gothic brand and got many retailers all over Spain, from Valencia to Seville, Barcelona, Coruña, Bilbao or Madrid, and even Europe and North America. Also on those days Maya Hansen dedicate some of her time to create some artists and bands costumes, such as it happened with metal band Mago de Oz or some others as Circus.

> Maya Hansen began to specialize herself as a corsetiere in 2006.

> Since then, she focuses all the attention of the collections to the corset as the main garment. Maya dedicates the most of her time to investigate, learn and improve her corsetiere skills, compiling patterns, studying materials, fabrics and techniques and, then, she decides to innovate on them making new patterns adapted to XXIst century women.

> Using high quality fabrics, trimmings and hardware from all around the world, Maya Hansen treats corset as a unique piece and even as an unrepeatable item, made with special care and always in small productions, using metal boning, waist cinchier tape and up to six layers of fabric on each piece of the pattern to make the corset solid and durable.

> Nowadays, Maya Hansen corsets are present at popular trade fairs as Wave Gothik Treffen, and through stockists and corset specialized stores in UK, France, Germany, Netherlands, Lithuania and United States.

> Maya Hansen also sells her own products through her website (www.mayahansen.com) and offers a showroom-atelier service where the designer herself receive her customers and advice them personally.

> Some of her last creations are the bridal/couture line specially done for the brides. There, you will be able to find haute couture gowns and corsets combined with original skirts for non traditional brides.
